SUMMER 2024

Week 1

June 27 - 30, 2024

Speakers: Dawna-Lyn Broadhead and Richard & Ericka Taylor

A special week for single parent families, adoptive and fostering families.

Come for a week of spiritual restoration and encouragement, connecting ourselves and our kids with other families who get it, and gaining collective wisdom on the unique joys and challenges we face daily as parents.

Please note: Week 1 is a shorter week set aside especially for single parent families, adoptive and fostering families.
We are delighted to have two sets of facilitators to journey with Single Parents and Foster/Adoptive families, respectively. While we have found this mix of groupings to work well in the past during Spring break, we are excited to integrate it into the Summer this year, with 3 full days of programming led by our Summer team and waterfront each afternoon, including arrival day (you will arrive in the morning of Thursday, June 27th).

Each morning and evening, parents, kids and teens will be able to enjoy sessions specifically tailored to them and yet much of the experience each week will bring the whole community together, reflecting the programming we offer through the rest of the Summer. (Single parents, foster & adoptive families are still welcome to book for any week of the Summer.)

Clicking this button will take you to our online registration system. Online booking for specific Summer Family Weeks will open at 9am on Thursday February 1st, 2024.

Meet your speakers

Dawna-Lyn Broadhead

Drawing on almost four decades of experience, Dawna-Lyn provides counsel to all ages, teaches parenting classes and works with parents as they navigate challenges with their children. This includes speaking at workshops, retreats, and other events as well as meeting with people one-on-one, guiding them through life issues - relationship challenges, divorce, illness, big decisions, and loss. Dawna-Lyn lives in the Vancouver, BC area of Canada with her husband, John. They have been married since 1985 and have two married daughters and five grandchildren.

Richard & Ericka Taylor

Richard and Ericka Taylor are adoptive parents with a passion to see every child thrive in a loving home. They started their adoption journey in 2010 and continued to pursue adoption for a decade through four closed adoption agencies and other challenges. Along the way God gave them a passion for supporting other adoptive and foster families. In Fall 2020, in the midst of Covid-19, God opened the door for the Taylors to adopt their daughter Miriam from Rwanda. Richard and Ericka currently live in Langley, BC with their four children (Jordan, Anderson, Micah, and Miriam).

Richard is heavily involved in international Christian education and leadership development. He currently leads Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions and has previously worked as the VP Student Life at Trinity Western University and Executive Director of Wellspring Foundation for Education. Ericka is a public health nurse who specializes in working with refugees and immigrant populations.
