Marriage Refreshment Retreat

Randy & Hannah Hamm May 4 - 6, 2018

 The Two Become One

Even though we all know that in marriage we are "One", we are also well aware that we are still two individuals with a lot of diversity between us. Over this weekend we will explore the tension of seeking oneness while honouring the differences we have in marriage as individuals. We'll examine some ways to identify who each of us is in Christ and how to help the other flourish in their own journey, while seeing how this paradoxically encourages our oneness. Randy and Hannah are on their own process of figuring this out and will enjoy journeying alongside you while you take the time to invigorate your marriage over this weekend.

Randy has been married to his beautiful bride Hannah for over 21 years and they have 3 kids (14, 13, 8). Although they loved living in Vancouver for many years, they are now happily relocated to Vernon, where he is Pastor at First Baptist Church. He loves teaching and connecting with people at a real level. Hannah taught Music for Young Children for 15 years (with up to 100 kids a week), and is currently enjoying a break while we transition to Vernon. She loves singing, leading worship and authentically engaging with others.
They love meeting people and figuring out how God's story intersects with ours. They are authentic in their faith and their marriage, not afraid to be honest about the struggles we all face.

Marriage Refreshment Retreat

Mark & Petra Anderson Nov 2 - 4, 2018

More to Marriage ~ Loving Deeply, Connecting Completely

The loving bond between us and our spouse mirrors the love relationship which God desires to have with each of His beloved children.  What can we learn from our vertical relationship with God that will help us draw closer to our husband or wife?  How can we draw upon the strength and safety of God’s love to help us sacrifice for our spouse’s needs? … remaining open, safe, and engaged with them as we navigate differences and conflict?
Drawing upon both biblical wisdom and recent  research on healthy relationships, this workshop will offer helpful insights on communication, vulnerability, and understanding ourselves.  Generous time will be provided for discussion and practical exercises exploring ways to grow closer while supporting our spouse in growing into the person they were created to be.

Mark and Petra have learned from each other’s differences through 30 years of marriage and parenting.  An engineer and a teacher by profession, they together studied at Regent College and, for 17 years, served as the Pastoral Team of Marineview Chapel in Vancouver.  Mark and Petra love walking with couples to help them notice where and how God is at work in their marriages.  They are now full-time professional Coaches and Spiritual Directors to leaders in the Marketplace and in Ministry.

Marriage Refreshment Retreat

Jay & Milissa Ewing Nov 16 - 18, 2018

Your Unique Story

St. Augustine once said, “Know thyself…” – we cannot begin to love another well until we know who we are – beloved children of God. Over the course of the weekend we will explore how in marriage, our individual stories come together and, for better or worse, shape the new story we begin writing right after our wedding vows.
Through a combination of interactive sessions and unstructured free time, you will leave with a better understanding of your unique story as a couple and a vision for the story you want to write together in the future.

Jay and Milissa Ewing have been married for 18 years and have 2 daughters. They are both pastors at Tenth Church in Vancouver – Jay is the Site Pastor for the Tenth Evening community and Milissa is the Family Ministries Pastor. They have combined experience in spiritual direction, pastoral care, marriage preparation, parent ministries, and education.  Milissa and Jay believe in the importance of marriage and desire to see couples not just survive but thrive in their most important relationship after God.

Milissa and Jay love spending as much time as possible with their girls in the wild places of BC. In the summer, you will find them camping, rock climbing, and swimming in BC lakes; in the winter you will find them skiing down Vancouver’s local mountains. They also love a good JJ Bean coffee and good books on a rainy Vancouver day.
