We believe families can have a summer holiday that is full of laughter, play and spiritual renewal.

For over 20 years, we’ve been giving families just that.  We’ve been serving up savory meals, ocean breezes, crisp linens, and lots of green grass for bare feet to roam.

Perched on a hill overlooking Howe Sound, Barnabas Landing is a one-of-a-kind place:  cottage-style rooms with your own private bath, healthy and kid-friendly meals, fun activities for the family (including every imaginable water sport) and take-your-breath-away views.

Come and join us.  It’s a week that will lift your heart.

David & Nancy Collins Aug 20 - 25, 2017

Come Away With Me                                                  FULL

Into everyone’s life comes periods of weariness or stress. We often cope by shuffling schedules or priorities. Yet in the midst of the season, it almost seems counter-intuitive to pause and rest; listen and reflect - be still and know. Why Sabbath? What’s Sabbath? How do I Sabbath? One of the great disciplines in spiritual life and health is soul care. Let’s spend a week together enjoying the nurture of our souls.
David & Nancy Collins have lived lives of international travel and cross-cultural exposure. They both have been raised in Christian homes and both came to a place of deep longing for more of God. They began to search for those who seemed to have a more intimate experience than theirs and sought to be taught by those who had journeyed more deeply with God. They come to Barnabas with desires of passing on the things they have discovered in the process.

Steve Brown Aug 13 - 18, 2017

Cultivating Healthy Relationships and Community                              FULL

Relationships matter. We are designed for them. We long for them. But, what can we do to cultivate deep and healthy relationships? What do we do when relationships get complex, difficult and even messy?

God created relationships and He cares about your relationships. Focusing on the “one anothers” in the New Testament, this week will equip you with God’s timeless and very practical direction for everyday relationships and authentic community at home, school, work and beyond.

Dr. Steve Brown serves as President of Arrow Leadership which seeks to develop Christian leaders who are "led more by Jesus, lead more like Jesus and lead more to Jesus". Steve is  the author of "Leading Me - Eight Key Practices for a Christian Leader's Most Important Assignment," as well as "Great Questions for Leading Well" and a regular e-resource at www.sharpeningleaders.com.
Husband of Lea and dad to Luke, Ainslea, and Lauren, Steve enjoys spending his free time with his young family, being near the water or a mountain, and running the hills (downhill is faster) near their home in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Steve Klassen Jul 30, 2017 - Aug 4, 2017

A Walk through Mark’s Gospel: Following Jesus together and allowing Him to speak to us                                                                    FULL

Steve Klassen will recite stories from Mark and lead us in listening experiences as we open our hearts to Jesus. He would encourage each adult registering for this retreat to read through the book of Mark and also to memorize the following poem written by Doreen Kostynuik:

“Follow Jesus around the Scriptures – be an observer
Watch how he looks
Watch how he touches
Watch how he is present to people
Watch how he prays and takes time out

Let him look at you
Let him touch you
Let him hold you
Let him heal you
Let him be present to you

Then become the look
Become the touch
Become the presence.”

Steve Klassen and his wife Evy have given leadership to the MARK Centre (www.markcentre.org) from its inception. They believe that God speaks to people today in a variety of ways, and have written a collection of their stories in Your Ears Will Hear. They both love to guide people in listening experiences and facilitate short retreats. Steve is a trained Spiritual Director and meets with individuals for monthly sessions. He also speaks publicly, dramatizing stories from Mark that highlight God’s personal love for people. Steve and Evy have six children, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.

Mark & Carolyn Arends Jul 23 - 28, 2017

ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES: REAL LIFE ACCORDING TO JESUS

FULL

Matthew 5-7 contains Jesus' Sermon on the Mount; His words have been so often quoted that it's easy to overlook the utterly revolutionary nature of His message. Mark and Carolyn Arends will use teaching, music, humour, and practical exploration to take a fresh look at the world according to Jesus ... and to discuss how each of us might accept His invitation to a different way of life.

Carolyn is an acclaimed recording artist, author, and college instructor. She is also the Director of Education for Renovaré, a far-reaching organization that encourages and nurtures spiritual renewal. Mark is a high school counsellor and coach with a Masters in narrative therapy. Mark and Carolyn live in Surrey, BC with their two teenagers, Ben and Beth.
