Steve Klassen Jul 30, 2017 - Aug 4, 2017

A Walk through Mark’s Gospel: Following Jesus together and allowing Him to speak to us                                                                    FULL

Steve Klassen will recite stories from Mark and lead us in listening experiences as we open our hearts to Jesus. He would encourage each adult registering for this retreat to read through the book of Mark and also to memorize the following poem written by Doreen Kostynuik:

“Follow Jesus around the Scriptures – be an observer
Watch how he looks
Watch how he touches
Watch how he is present to people
Watch how he prays and takes time out

Let him look at you
Let him touch you
Let him hold you
Let him heal you
Let him be present to you

Then become the look
Become the touch
Become the presence.”

Steve Klassen and his wife Evy have given leadership to the MARK Centre (www.markcentre.org) from its inception. They believe that God speaks to people today in a variety of ways, and have written a collection of their stories in Your Ears Will Hear. They both love to guide people in listening experiences and facilitate short retreats. Steve is a trained Spiritual Director and meets with individuals for monthly sessions. He also speaks publicly, dramatizing stories from Mark that highlight God’s personal love for people. Steve and Evy have six children, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.

David & Nancy Collins Aug 20 - 25, 2017

Come Away With Me                                                  FULL

Into everyone’s life comes periods of weariness or stress. We often cope by shuffling schedules or priorities. Yet in the midst of the season, it almost seems counter-intuitive to pause and rest; listen and reflect - be still and know. Why Sabbath? What’s Sabbath? How do I Sabbath? One of the great disciplines in spiritual life and health is soul care. Let’s spend a week together enjoying the nurture of our souls.
David & Nancy Collins have lived lives of international travel and cross-cultural exposure. They both have been raised in Christian homes and both came to a place of deep longing for more of God. They began to search for those who seemed to have a more intimate experience than theirs and sought to be taught by those who had journeyed more deeply with God. They come to Barnabas with desires of passing on the things they have discovered in the process.

Mark Warren Jun 25 - 30, 2017

Your Story, God’s Story, and Counterfeit Stories                               FULL

In the grand and epic wonder of God’s story is your story. Your story: uniquely authored by God and coauthored with you, to be lived out with passion, focus, grace and clarity. But there are other stories, counterfeit stories, written by other authors (including you) that desire to find a place in the library of your heart and mind. These counterfeit stories seek to interpret your life and the events that happen around you through a false narrative. Our Lord’s great joy is giving you clarity about your story and how it is woven into His grand story. It is a walk, a long walk, together with Him.
We will go on a journey together to uncover your true story, and get set free from false stories about you and those around you. We will experience the meaning of discovering the names the Lord has given you to be. You will also be equipped to become a “Namer” of those around you with whom God has called you to walk out your story.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10
