Discovering Intimate Places with God

Balancing the commitments of life can be draining. Autopilot is at times the best option for maneuvering through some of our decisions and life has a way of showing us that our lives are not necessarily congruent with what we have been taught through the years. This week is meant to help you clarify what you actually believe and release you from certain burdens you may be carrying, including guilt, performance expectations or even the tendency to rationalize away responsibility for decisions made.

David & Nancy Collins have lived and moved in many cultural and economic circles. He has successfully pastored congregations, founded charities, worked with people from every demographic, yet continues to discover how easy it is to not depend on God for much of his day's activities. He has been challenged to re-evaluate what he honestly believes in light of what Scripture actually says. Together they are currently on a journey of leaning into God and discovering much more than they have ever been taught.

What did Jesus mean when he said our lives could be abundant? Why are we so easily lulled into lifeless, listless living? What fuels free, abundant living? Why is being satisfied with our Christian life so dangerous? Why are we so easily lulled into lifeless, listless, living? What if a fellow Christian is "offended" by our freedom?

Despite the potential for abundance and freedom, Christians and their leaders are too often caught in common enslaving chains. Our Christian lives of abundance and freedom are dribbled away as we gradually implement the normal, tasteless, tedious, heavy yoke called "Christian" living. Transfer to the living Christ your life's restraints like boredom, burden-some habits, frayed formulas, and hurtful relationships. We will learn how to exchange our emptiness for Christ's abundance.

Come Your Kingdom, Be Done Your Will

How does the Lord's Prayer, keeping in step with the Third Person of the Trinity, and living out your calling all tie together? We will spend our week exploring and experiencing how to do all three together. God gave us a way to pray, and the Guide to coach us, and the wiring and gifting to accomplish something truly unique in order to carry out His will and bring His kingdom to earth.

Mark is the Team Development Pastor at Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham, WA, which serves over 4500 members. He also serves as director of Outfitters Ministry, a ministry focused on mobilizing lay leaders and volunteers in identifying and using their God-given gifts and personal design in meaningful areas of ministry service.

Mark teaches for Trinity Western University in their Leadership degree program. He is also Principal of Mark Warren Associates, a coaching and training company. His company offers a variety of career, executive and life coaching and leadership training for individuals as well as churches, businesses and non-profit organizations. Mark specializes in helping people discover and pursue their personal life callings. He is known as "The Calling Coach."

Mitch Whitman holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has maintained a private clinical practice for 26 years. He regularly teaches on marriage and sexuality, and has assessed and trained Christian leaders with Arrow Leadership for 13 years. He is happily married with two delightful teenage daughters.

Making a Difference in Lives Around Us

Dallas Willard says that "we do not need more believers, but rather more people who are willing to do what Jesus says." James, the little brother of Jesus, has caught what Jesus has taught, and applied it into his life to the level whereby he both lives it and passes it on to the Jews who have been scattered in the diaspora. Through his own devotion to the Lord, he is able to encourage others to move beyond a mental ascent of the faith into a practical demonstration of the new reality of the kingdom of God.

Come and hear again the call to follow Jesus as Saviour and Lord and to be challenged through the Letter of James to live a life that will make a difference in the lives of those where you live.

Cam Roxburgh has been the Team Leader at Southside Community Church for almost 20 years. The practical working out of the gospel in the life of this community of followers of Jesus has led to the opportunity to help many other churches in Canada and the States to develop local missionaries, and not just religious consumers. He leads a movement called Forge Canada which helps churches work towards the transformation of their neighbourhoods. He is married to Shelley and has 4 children who range in age from 20-15.

Mark and Carolyn Arends use teaching, story-telling, music, humour, and group interaction to explore God's word and movement among us. Mark is a high school counsellor and coach with a Masters in narrative therapy, Carolyn is an acclaimed recording artist and author. In addition to her busy concert and speaking schedule, she is an instructor at Pacific Life Bible College, writes a bi-monthly column for Christianity Today, and is pursuing graduate studies at Regent College. They have 2 children.
